1712: Birth of Jean Jacques Rosseau

Jean Jacques Rosseau, an influential philosopher of the 18th century was born on this day in Geneva, Switzerland. He was also a writer and political theorist whose works inspired the leaders of the French Revolution.

1919: The Treaty of Versailles is signed

It was on this day when the Paris Peace Conference resulted in the Treaty of Versailles. It brought an official end to World War I and established the League of Nations. It was signed in the Palace of Versailles, France by Germany, Allied and Associate powers.

 1921: Birth of PV Narsimha Rao

The 9th Prime Minister of India, Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao was born on this day in Telangana. He was fluent in six languages and even translated books and wrote some in Hindi, Marathi, and Telegu. He was the first Indian Prime Minister (in or out of office) to face trial on criminal charges, was found guilty in 2000.

1969: Stonewall Uprising begins

On this day, the Stonewall uprising began which is also called as ‘Stonewall riots’. It started when New York police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in Greenwich Village. It lead to a huge uprising, six days of protests and violent clashes. This also served as a catalyst in the Gay rights movement of America.

1971: Birth of Elon Musk

South African born American entrepreneur, Elon Reeves Musk was born on this day in Pretoria. Musk co-founded PayPal and is also the founder of SpaceX. He was also one of the first important investors in Tesla. He held the title of the wealthiest person in the world during the month of march but lost it when Tesla’s shares dropped by $11 billion in one day.
