Thunderstorm & Heavy Rain Alert : 13 States Alarmed,Schools In Haryana Closed

Thunderstorms and heavy rain is likely in at least 13 states and two union territories tomorrow, the Union Home Ministry’s advisory said.

Schools in Haryana have been asked to remain closed for the next two days.

The ministry, quoting the weather department said that Delhi, its adjoining areas and parts of Western Uttar Pradesh are likely to see thunderstorms and heavy rain for about two hours.

On the other hand, heavy rains are likely on Monday at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.

Thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail are very likely at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds are very likely on Monday at isolated places in Uttarakhand and Punjab.

Dust storm and thunderstorm are also likely at isolated places in West Rajasthan,an official said

The Home ministry alert comes after 124 people died and more than 300 people were injured in thunderstorms and lightning in 5 states last week.
