Two Dead as DU Student Rams Car Into Autos at Bus Stand

On Monday, two auto rickshaw drivers, waiting for passengers at the bus stand on GT Karnal Road died after a car rammed into their auto. According to the Police, the accused driver, Mohit who is 23 years old is a BA student at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning.

The victims, Sanjay Sareen was 40 years old and Jaikishan Gupta was 36 years old. Gaurav Sharma, DCP, Outer North Delhi said “Picket staff reached the spot within minutes and saw that a Maruti SX4 car had hit three auto-rickshaws. The injured drivers were taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital. They were shifted to Lok Nayak Hospital, where they succumbed to injuries at 8.30 am”

According to police, the incident took place at Outer Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar around 1.52 AM when Mohit was on his way home after having dinner with his friends. An officer said “He and five others were in the car at the time. He allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit the autos. A medical examination of the accused was conducted and the report is awaited,”

Jaikishan was a father of three and lived with his family in a rented accommodation in the same area.
