Violence Erupted At Jawaharlal Nehru University By A Masked Mob

Students and teachers of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) have been attacked by a masked mob armed with sticks and bricks.The University’s students’ union, JNUSU, has claimed that some “masked” persons entered the JNU’s Sabarmati and other hostels and thrashed the students with sticks and rods. Aishe Ghosh, president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU), is among those attacked, and has sustained head injuries.

JNUSU has alleged that the attack was orchestrated by the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Sabarmati Hostel, Mahi Mandvi Hostel, Periyar Hostel inside the campus became the peak sites of vandalism during the attack.

Violence was reported at Jawaharlal Nehru University today.NSUI in a statement has blamed ABVP for the violence. Neeraj Kundan, National President of NSUI states "The state sponsored terror attack on JNU today by ABVP under direct orders from BJP & Amit Shah with protection of Delhi Police shows upto which extent the Government can fall to supress students. ABVP goons armed with lathis, hammers, sickels, sticks, acid bottles went on rampage in JNU." ABVP on the other hand has blamed SFI,AISA & DSF for the violence. "Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad members have been brutally attacked by students affiliated to leftist student organizations SFI, AISA and DSF. Around 25 students have been seriously injured in this attack and there is no information as to the whereabouts of 11 students. Many ABVP members are being attacked in hostels and the hostels are being vandalized by the leftist goons." said Ashutosh Singh,State Media Incharge of ABVP Delhi.

“ABVP in police presence is moving around with lathis, rods, hammers with their faces under masks. They are pelting bricks, climbing over walls and getting into hostels and beating up students. Several teachers and students have also been beaten up. JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh has been brutally attacked and her head is bleeding very badly. Students are trying to save themselves while being chased by ABVP goons while the police is complicit in their crimes, it is taking the orders from Sanghi Professors, forcing students to chant Bharat Mata ki Jai slogans!” a statement by JNUSU mentioned.

“I have been brutally attacked by goons wearing masks. I have been bleeding. I was brutally beaten up,” Aishe Ghosh was quoted as saying by ANI.

Aishe Ghosh was seen bleeding profusely from the head in photos and videos that surfaced online .

Whereas , ABVP denied the allegations and stated that the students of the organisation have been attacked by the All India Students Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Students Federation (DSF).

While their girl brigade dragged students from girls hostel to beat them up for asking for reversal in fees hike. If this is Modiji’s new India, and this is his way of expressing his brute fascist will through violence and anarchy; I including every member of my NSUI will stand up against them till our last breath. We are entering a new phase of State-sponsored terrorism in India. And only Modi-Shah-RSS is to be blamed for it.” Neeraj Kundan, National President of the Congress backed student outfit NSUI said in a statement.

Soon after the attack, slogans of ‘ABVP go back’ erupted at the campus of JNU.Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has also registered his grief and shock about the incident on twitter.

Meanwhile, Students of Jamia Millia Islamia came in support of JNU and have called a gathering at ITO condemning the attack on JNU students.Students becoming the repeated targets of violence sternly point towards the fact that the future of the country has fallen into despair.
