Autumn’s liveliest, brightest and the lighty festival is here. Can’t believe we’re almost done with 2018. Are we?
Diwali symbolises the spiritual “victory of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.”¬†(Ayo! Let’s pray that we get over our sinful deeds and get our admit cards without any troubles of getting detained)
During the celebration, temples, homes, shops and office buildings are brightly illuminated. The preparations and rituals for the festival typically last five days, with the climax occurring on the third day coinciding with the darkest night of the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika.
The Jains observe their own Diwali, which marks the final liberation of Mahavira,  the Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas to mark the release of Guru Hargobind from a Mughal Empire prison, while Newar Buddhists, unlike other Buddhists, celebrate Diwali by worshiping Lakshmi. The festival of Diwali is an official holiday in Fiji, Guyana, India, Malaysia (except Sarawak), Mauritius, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
The elder siblings would be busy commanding and delegating the orders that came from the central authority (that happens to be our mom!).Visiting all the familiar faces, who you haven’t been able to see or meet from past a year and greeting them with ethically joining your hands in a namaste position.Happy or tired?
Silly me! Who forgot about the new clothes everybody bought and are or will be flashing out on Instagram, Snapchat and family gatherings in the evening.
The girl’s who didn’t go back to their hometowns, could be seen with some fairy lights in their room filled in the empty bottles.I did that too, but obviously before I came back to my happy place.The guys all over dashing and playing snooker, poker, PUBG, cards and long drives with some loud music.
Now it’s time to buckle up your seat belts and go for a drive of eco friendly Diwali and some books as the semester exams are on our heads.
