It’s Just the first month of this year and Hollywood began this with a BANG! The Golden Globes Award Ceremony of 2018 witnessed immense support for the females from the females. Red carpet of Golden Globes turned to Black this year!

Hollywood, or I can say the whole world was shocked with cases of sexual harassment on the successful producer since decades Harvey Weinstein. And not just one case but more than a eighty women have stood up against him in the last few months complaining of sexual harassment, assault and rape. And the list included famous names such as Asia Argento, Angelina Jolie, Kate Beckinsale, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lena Headey, Ashley Judd and the list goes on. Later on, the House of Cards star Kevin Spacey was accused by Anthony Rapp and other eight House of Cards employees of making forceful sexual advances towards them. Another case was Taylor Swift accusing DJ David Mueller of groping her and and Swift suing Mueller for symbolic 1 Dollar which she eventually won.

So, Hollywood women and most men stood against these powerful men of the industry. The “Time’s Up” and “Me Too” campaign are such examples. The ‘Me too’ campaign was active on social media whereas ‘Time’s Up’ received huge donations of 15 million dollars from Jennifer Aniston,Reese Witherspoon, Blake Lively, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Beil and many others who showed their support in The Golden Globes Awards too.

The memo to dress in black in support of Time’s Up movement was well received by all and there was a huge turnout which was dressed in black. Michelle Williams spearheaded the idea of women bringing social activists or just women as their date on the red carpet and it was followed up by many including Emma Watson( with Maria Larasi), Michelle Williams with Tarana Burke(who began the #MeToo movement) ,Natalie Portman with America Ferrera(Time’s up voice) and the names continued with Meryl Streep,Laura Dern,Salma Hayek and Ashley Judd (prominent name against Weinstein) also came together.

Seth Meyer’s, the host presented a strong monologue which won hearts with “Good evening ladies and remaining gentlemen,” “Happy New Year, Hollywood. It’s 2018. Marijuana is finally allowed and sexual harassment finally isn’t. It’s gonna be a good year.”“This was the year of big little lies and get out, and also the TV series Big Little Lies’and the movie Get Out.”“For the male nominees here tonight this is the first time in three months it won’t be terrifying to hear your name read out loud”. He also took a dig against Kevin Spacey and Weinstein.

Natalie Portman showed her discontent against the nominees for the Best Director by “And here are all the male nominees” while presenting the award.

The best part of the evening was Oprah Winfrey being awarded the Cecile.B.DeMille for her outstanding contribution to the industry and Seth Meyer’s being supported for taking Oprah’s name for the next president.

Some good speeches won hearts too and Oprah just wanted to tell each and every girl that a new day in on the horizon. The light moments of the ceremony were Tom Hanks serving drinks to the people, Kelly Clarkson fangirling over Meryl Streep and Steve Carell fangirling over Kelly Clarkson.

The Bollywood award ceremonies do need to learn a lot of things from the west which includes the most important thing i.e. unbiasedness.

Well what’s your idea about Oprah being the next U.S. President?
