The festivities of Bohag Bihu mark the traditional Assamese New Year. It is celebrated on the first day of the Hindu solar calendar. Bihu involves the farmer community thanking God for the good harvest coupled hoping for abundance in future as well. It unites the population of Assam regardless of their religions or backgrounds and promotes the celebration of diversity. The All Assamese student’ association New Delhi, is celebrating the advent of the season of spring as the ‘Bohagi Utsav’ on 8th of April 2018 at Shankar Lal Bhawan, North Campus from 4 pm onwards. The day will be full of exciting events and games such as the traditional egg fight competition and an episode of blindfolded- hit the target so that the people could experience the true culture and spirit of Assam.
The centre of attraction for the evening will be the presence of the remarkable Assamese artist Neel Akash. Some extraordinary performances of traditional Bihu culture such as Jeng Bihu, Husori, and Assamese folk dances would be exhibited by students. The event would surely provide an amazing blend of Assamese culture for the people to experience.
