New Delhi: Multiple reports have confirmed a minor blast near the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi on Friday. The blast took place less than two kilometers from Vijaya Chowk. While the blast happened, the Beating Retreat ceremony was going on about 2 kilo meters away.
Delhi Police reported that the explosion occurred near a pavement. The minor blast caused heavy damage to the windscreens of few cars.
The minor blast has been attributed to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). It had been wrapped up in a plastic bag and left on the pavement.
Fire brigades and several police teams have reached the spot.
INJURIES
So far, there are no reports of anybody getting injured in the minor blast.
The area, however, has been sealed from the general public and further investigations are going on.
Abdul Kalam Road in Delhi has been cordoned off with heavy police deployment and some Senior Police officers have reached the spot.
The minor blast took place less than 2 kilometers from Vijaya Chowk, where President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other senior members of the government were gathered for the Beating Retreat ceremony.
