“Want to make a difference in Global Hunger Ratio? Here is your chance with Enactus SBSC’s new project about hygienic and affordable food for all in Delhi”
Ever seen hungry people off the street and wondered if you could just make a difference but confused as to whether your effort really matters? As to whether your contribution is put to good use?
For all those people who want to help but want the guarantee that their efforts are being counted or not, this is an opportunity by Enactus Shaheed Bhagat Singh College to actually make a difference through their new project.
What is Project ‘Aahar’?
Project Aahar a project where they seek to provide employment opportunities to seasonally employed migrant workers from the neighboring states of Delhi. These migrant workers are taught and trained to run their own operation of food stalls. These food stalls serve fresh, hygienic, nutritious and healthy food at a minimal amount; catering to people (laborers, rickshaw-wallas etc.) who do not have access to it. The Global Hunger Index marks India 20th, among the world’s leading countries with a serious hunger situation. The food served by the existing stalls is made in unhygienic conditions and is very unhealthy. They seek to turn this thing around by serving freshly prepared food with great nutritious value, at a minimal cost. This will not only help people get access to clean and healthy food, but will also generate employment and income for the community they shall support in running this operation.
They put in required investment to set up a shop, buy utensils to cook food, get the raw material like vegetables, fuel etc. And most importantly train them, not just in cooking, but also managing the operations. This is where you can help. Every penny is used in the betterment and rehabilitation of  a troubled community; by helping them develop sustainable businesses, and make them stand on their own feet.
A stall of Project Aahar has been set up by their team near PSRI Hospital in Sheikh Sarai, but in order to maximize their impact they seek to set up more stalls. A small donation towards a just cause will make it bigger and better, as they seek to set more of them up to have a broader impact.
Initiated in September 2016,this projects aims at tapping more and more underprivileged communities and plans to fulfill their motto of making this world a better place to live in.
