Delhi University has pushed its colleges to fill the vacant principal posts soon, preferably before the start of the new academic session, failing which appointments to regular teaching posts will not be made.
The university has mailed at least 28 colleges to speed up the whole process, out of which 8 have released advertisements for the posts.
“Until now, the advertisement had to be prepared by the college, approved by its governing body, sent to the dean of colleges and then approved by higher authorities before being released.” a university official said.
He added that several amendments have been made to fill in the posts faster. “We have put the form online so that the applicant will just has to change the name of the college in case he/she wants to send multiple applications” he said.
Besides this,a common API score (480) has been devised for principals, which will be followed by all colleges and can be computed at the end of the application.
“Otherwise, we used to have several complaints that one applicant holds a high API score for one position and remains ineligible, while a less API score for the same post makes him/her a candidate” he said.
