Though the political parties have started campaigning already, the list of students fighting elections this year hasn’t been released yet by any of the parties.
DUSU elections have become a show of money and muscle power with students spending lakhs and even crores unofficially to fight elections.According to the official guidelines, students can’t spend more than INR 5000 for campaigning but they are able to do so by exploiting loopholes in the system.
From amusement park tickets, movie tickets, metro cards to parties in clubs and alcohol,a number of things are used by candidates to impress students on campus and garner votes.
