Delhi University’s Central Library Now Open For Research Scholars And Faculty Members

Delhi University has now opened doors to its central library and reading rooms for all its research scholars and faculty members. On Thursday, the university issued a notification announcing the reopening of its central library with immediate effect. A list of UGC and Delhi University Library System (DULS) specific guidelines were also issued on the website.

The Notification read – “Library facilities under DULS will be made operational in phases. In the first phase only bonafide faculty members, PhD/M. Phil scholars will be allowed to use library reading room facilities. The Reading room facilities would be limited to 10 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. during the weekdays i.e. Monday to Friday. The libraries will remain closed on Saturday, Sunday and gazetted holidays.”

Visitors and alumni are also allowed to enter given they have prior permission from the university librarian. All scholars wanting to access library facilities will have to book a seat online.

While visiting the library, the authorization email and bonafide membership card of the Central Library will be checked. All reading rooms on the research floor will be available and 3 reading rooms on the ground floor will be open. The sitting areas have been rearranged keeping in mind the required social distancing measures.

Also, depending upon the capacity, a limited number of users would be allowed to enter any library/section of the library. The library will also allow its members to borrow and return books and no late return fine would be charged for the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.
