DU Admissions 2019 : One of the biggest and most controversial change in the DU admissions 2019 process is the mandatory inclusion of Mathematics while calculating your best of four score for admission to BA Economics (Hons) while a score 50% in Mathematics is now compulsory in Class 12th if you wish to apply for BCom (Hons).

Earlier, passing Mathematics in class 12th was the criteria to apply for admissions to these two courses without any minimum score or mandatory inclusion being followed but with the change brought this year, things are likely to not go down well with the students.

Ex Delhi University students have launched a protest asking Delhi University to take back this decision.

“While we encourage such criterion, the timing of the criterion is absurd. This will render kids with dreams of studying these courses who thought they were eligible to study these subjects helpless.” one of the protesting students Hari who graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce told DU Express.

The aspirants too are worried as it crushes their dream of joining the prestigious University. In one of the queries received by DU Express, an aspirant asked us “Help me out guys … I’ve a BO4 of 95% . But i scored 49 in maths . The bulletin says one has to score atleast 50% in maths for bcom hons . Can anything be done? I dont want to miss out for 1 mark”

Query by an aspirant affected by this decision

From one point the decision is praiseworthy as it will eradicate applicants who aren’t very strong in Mathematics and faces problem once they join BCom (Hons) while Eco (Hons) being a majorly maths driven course, mandatory inclusion of Maths in Best of Four will ensure a better quality of students at Delhi University.
