Recently, St. Stephen’s, a constituent college of the University of Delhi released a notice under which the UG admissions are all set to begin from the 5th of August, 2021. Admissions to DU had already begun this year for some postgraduate courses. The last date to apply to the college is 31st August, 2021.
Despite being a part of DU, St. Stephen’s follows an individual admission process that is separate from the rest of the varsity. It has its own cut-offs which are separate from the announcements of the rest of the colleges. In addition to the cut off, there are several other factors that determine a student’s chances of getting selected to a program in this college. Three other factors come into play. The weightage given are – academics 85% weightage which involves class 12 marks, and 15% weightage to written tests and interviews. After being selected at an initial level, students are required to keep their call letters ready along with other important documents like birth certificates, quota certificates such as baptism certificates, if applicable. Another document that needs to be necessarily carried is the class 12th marksheet.
Foreign students interested in gaining admission to the college have to register at Foreign Student Registry (FSR) of the University of Delhi and then fill a separate application for the college. On the college portal, international students will have to clearly mention their FSR details when filling the college form.
Due to the prevailing situation of the pandemic, the written exams might be cancelled as they were last year because of the environment not being conducive to hold them. In such a scenario, the entire 15% will be based on the interview alone that is meant to assess the individual in an interactive space. Last year the trials for students taking admission through sports quota were also cancelled. However, there is little clarity yet about the remainder of the process of UG admissions to the college.
For the rest of the colleges, DU is to begin its admission process for the UG programs from 2nd August. This is in keeping with the guidelines released by the University Grants Commission (UGC) which mandated the new academic calendar to begin from 1st August.
One of the oldest colleges of the nation, St. Stephens is a coveted institution of education with students from all over the country applying every year. Its excellent faculty, well-designed courses and infinite opportunities make it a top choice for students.
