Delhi University’s B.A. Programme is one the most sought-after courses among DU aspirants. It offers students an option to choose subject combinations best suited to them.

This year, a large number of applicants applied for various combinations of B.A. Programme courses provided by DU colleges. Following the high demand, few colleges closed admissions to some of the combinations after the first cutoff. However, seats did open up at a few others in subsequent lists.
Course Structure
Students have a lot to look forward to in their three years pursuing this course. They can choose two core subjects based on what they like- such as political science and economics. In addition, they have to study two compulsory ability enhancement courses. One of the courses is language (English/Hindi/Modern Indian Language) while the other is EVS. Further, students also have a wide range of optional skill enhancement courses to choose from. These include computers, project management, public opinion and survey methods, financial economics, and research methodology, to name a few.
Why this Structure?
The objective behind such B.A. Programme architecture is to allow students to explore options for further education or work post-graduation, while still in school. The basic courses pique students’ interest in higher education and research opportunities. They are also aimed at building interest in teaching opportunities at both the university and school levels. The papers presented in the core courses are both foundational and applied in a market-based perspective. Political science students, for example, study political theory, Indian politics and administration, and public policy.
Eligibility Criteria for B.A. Programme at DU
Following are the eligibility requirements for admission to a B.A. Programme course:
1. Candidates must have finished their 10+2 education from a recognised institution.
2. Aside from that, certain colleges stipulate that in order to be qualified to pursue a B.A. course provided by them, candidates must have received a minimum of 50% aggregate marks at the Class 12 level.
3. Furthermore, for SC/ST students, several colleges grant a 5% mark reduction in this criterion.
