The Central Government launched the campaign in May to put portraits of 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees on university walls across the country to inculcate the feeling of patriotism and nationalism among students.The campaign is called ‘Vidya Veerta Abhiyan’ (Knowledge and Warrior Campaign).The campaign has 100 universities as part of the process in its first phase.
Delhi University has inaugurated the ‘Wall of Heroes’ at Conference Centre.Though,it is a remarkable step but was something of this sort required to inculcate feeling of patriotism among students?
“This wall is a permanent fixture. Though most of the students are on their vacations but as soon as they come back, they will get to know about this initiative. We have chose conference centre as the venue of this wall because it is open and accessible to all. Students can visit the place anytime. This lead will certainly impulse the sense of patriotism among students,” Dr Shalini Baxi, Head of cultural affairs,Delhi University said.
