The idea of 4 year undergraduate course which was implemented in 2013 but was withdrawn after students’ protests is being considered again by the Education Ministry.

As per the anonymous source, the proposal has been discussed in detail by the committee and a final decision has been reached but they are yet to present it before the Education Ministry. It is believed that this one extra year will give time for students pursuing subjects like Arts, Commerce etc to do projects, internships, and help them grow as a student.

The officials believe it to be a solution for all academic problems and most probably a change in the first year subjects will be brought forth.

5 years ago, this 4-year format was scraped off and colleges were asked to switch back to the earlier format of 3-year UG courses, keeping in mind the interest of the students. The decision had received mixed reactions, wherein many rejoiced at the decision take and many condemned the intervention of HRD ministry and UGC in the decision of Delhi University. Many teachers believe that its high time HRD and DU start focusing on the quality of teachers that are being appointed rather than bringing changes in the formats.
