What is Jazbaat Foundation and why do we need more such NGOs?
The capital attracts thousands of students to several prestigious institutions located in the city. Students from all over the country migrate to Delhi for gaining a quality education and securing a safe future. However, it is important to note that the city has no dearth of such motivated students.
The will to learn and grow extends beyond the walls of such premier institutes. One such place was the Rajendra Ashram of East Delhi. Students from rural parts of the country resided in this Ashram which helped discover their talent and passion. Consequently, a volunteer teaching them, Arpita Chowdhury gained inspiration to take this a step ahead. This is how Jazbaat Foundation was born in October 2019.
Jazbaat Foundation
The organization consists of a group of passionate individuals who aim to uplift the underprivileged youth of our country. Along with this, they want to make the youth, vocationally skilled and financially independent.
Arpita is a second-year English Honors student from Lady Sri Ram College for Women. Her one year at NSS LSR’s project- Tamana served as a great motivation. Jazbaat Foundation collaborated with Rajendra Ashram to conduct several workshops, plastic collection drive among other social initiatives.
CBSE results announced in July, made the foundation feel extremely proud. The topper, Lodro Munda, scored 92.6% in class tenth board exams. Additionally, Dinesh Rana and Kapil Dev secured 77% and 70.4% respectively. However, the celebration was accompanied by another challenge.
Now the organization had to work to ensure that these talented students can continue their education. Functioning during the pandemic, the foundation collected the required funds with the help of Mr. Ayanjyoti Samanta, the chief advisor. Consequently, the students were enrolled in schools.
A housing facility has been successfully arranged. The five students learning under the foundation are learning how to operate gadgets and access resources like the internet in the e-learning environment.
Apart from Academics
Apart from this, Jazbaat Foundation has conducted many activities during the pandemic. Mental health emerged as a crucial challenge during the lockdown. As a result, the foundation conducted important webinars on the same.
The goal of Quality Education
On a broader level, the foundation firmly believes to work towards sustainable development goal 4 i.e. Quality Education.
The organization has started a voluntary teaching program to aid the students. Volunteers belong to various DU colleges like LSR, Aurobindo College, Lady Irwin; etc. This proves their constant emphasis on quality education. However, we need to remember how even the goal of education is distant for many in our country.
Arpita, the founder of the foundation says, “Education should not be a luxury, every child has the right to pursue their dreams. My goal is to ensure that no student is left behind because of any constraints.”
This foundation has changed the life of 5 such dreamers and there are indeed many more to come!
