NSS Daulat Ram College Organises Its Annual Diwali Mela – Jalsa

On 23rd October 2019, The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Daulat Ram College (DRC) organised Jalsa, its annual not-for-profit Diwali mela.

With Ishtiraaq-e-Aaftab as the theme this year, the NSS unit drew focus towards sharing the sunshine of hope, love and prosperity with everyone. The event emphasized the same through a plethora of performances at the event which included a welcome song by the Visually Challenged students of the college and an outstanding dance performance by the children of the Connecting Lives Foundation NGO.

The Flashmob by Zenith; the Western dance society of the College and the medley of songs presented by Encore; the Western music society garnered a lot of appreciation from the spectators. The film and photography society of the college, Sepia also hosted its annual photo exhibition, Decipher 4.0 receiving high praise for the skills of its members.

A wide variety of stalls offered food, merchandise and fun games for people to indulge in the event. A number of food stalls served delicious and scrumptious meals throughout the mela. To go along with this the students of the NSS unit organised several games such as the Balancing Brick, Aar ya Paar, Do I Know You  among other such games. A variety of handmade diyas, dairies and other such handcrafted products were a part of the array of stalls that attracted the visitors.

The event witnessed an approximate running crowd of more than 7000 students.

Jalsa’19 was a wonderful event with its charming decorations and variety of stalls. The event turned out to be a huge success as a result of the efforts and hard work put in by the students of college.
