NSS Zakir Husain Delhi College Organizes Third Annual Youth Convention-Taarunya’18

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Zakir Husain Delhi College, University of Delhi organized its third annual National Youth Convention ‘Taarunya’18’ on 21st  February 2018. The convention marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda who is known for being a torch bearer of Indian values and practices; which formed its central theme.

Upon commencement, a brief documentary about the NSS and Zakir Husain Delhi College was played to enlighten the audience about the NSS activities and Taarunya held in the previous years. On this day, the convention secured enthusiastic student participation from various colleges across Delhi. The presence of distinguished guests Dr. Veerendra Mishra (Director of NSS and Executive Director of NYS) and Dr. K.K. Aggarwal (Padma Shree Awardee, President at Heart care foundation of India) proved pivotal for the promulgation of Taarunya.

The first session of the day comprised of welcome addresses by Mr. Mukesh Jain (NSS Program Officer) and Dr. Sulekh Chandra (Principal).  Highlighting upon volunteerism, Dr. Veerendra Mishra emphasized upon significance of meaningful engagement and mindful participation while involving oneself in any social perspective. Dr. K.K. Aggarwal, apart from sharing his expertise, gave life demonstration on CPR. The first session concluded and was followed a scrumptious lunch for all.

The second session, comprised of talks by four prominent speakers from various fields –

• Smt. Swati Maliwal, Chairperson DCW
• Dr. Nisha Khanna, psychologist
• Prof. Kavita Sharma, Head and Dean, Department of Commerce, Faculty of Commerce and Business, University of Delhi

• Mr. Shishir Sinha, Business editor, ABP News

The panel highlighted upon various social aspects revolving around youth and aspired the audience by sharing their personal and professional experiences.

The valedictory session, comprised of talks by RJ Naved and Bollywood actor, Mr. Zain Khan Durrani. Both the dignitaries shared their life experiences with the students and imparted a great deal of knowledge which was both inspiring and motivational.

The event came to an end by extending a vote of thanks to all speakers who were honored with mementos and souvenirs.Mr. Mukesh Jain, NSS officer said​ It was indeed incredible to see young minds present in large numbers to gain knowledge and inspiration from speakers at Taarunya.​
