DU Exams 2020 : Two committees headed by the Vice-Chancellors of Haryana University and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) have suggested the University Grants Commission that online exams can be conducted by Universities who have the infrastructure to conduct them or conduct pen and paper examination post lockdown. The reports were submitted on Friday and the government is likely to issue guidelines for Universities across India next week.

These committees were formed by the University Grants Commission for various issues such as – conducting exams, online classes, and how to plan the new academic session at Universities across India.

“One of the suggestions is to promote students on the basis of their performance in the previous semesters if a university is unable to conduct exams. The committees have suggested that the number of papers is reduced in case the universities want to hold fresh assessment and are not willing to promote students on the basis of their past performance,” a source in UGC told The Print.

Whether Delhi University decides to go ahead with online examinations or not is something still not clear and has caused a lot of confusion especially in the minds of third-year students. The proposal has drawn equal opposition from the teaching community as well which feels that online examination won’t do justice to students and academics in general.
