Our Voix, a youth-led organization working on the prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, takes up the responsibility of educating children about their rights given under various international and national frameworks.
Since its inception, Our Voix has resorted to unconventional, innovative and sensitive avenues of reaching out to children and impart awareness about and prevention of child sexual abuse in all its forms and manifestations. This August, Our Voix is launching its Child Protection Booklet in the form of a comic book.
The content of the Protection Booklet aims at empowering young children with the knowledge of their own rights and also, through a comic format, making it more interesting and relatable for our young minds. It would be rightfully said that this book is a combination of fun and learning undertaken with informed social responsibility and sensitivity.
The book introduces Super Buddies who teach children various concepts, provisions and rights – ranging across the POCSO Act, Indian Constitution and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These comic strips place child characters at different positions where their rights are being violated. Super Buddies then come to their rescue and teaches the legal and moral side of their rights.
Article 17 ( c ) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child encourages the production and dissemination of children’s books to ensure that the child has access to information and material from a diversity of national and international sources, especially aimed at the promotion of his or her social, spiritual and moral well-being and physical and mental health.
In lieu of remaining silent, Our Voix believes that we must cleanse ourselves from the prejudices and reservations that surround the topic of child sexual abuse. Launching this Protection Booklet serves as an impetus to the movement against child sexual abuse.
Join them on 10th August 2019Â at St Columbas School, New Delhi at the launch event.
