Project uP is the story of a few students who bagged a project with the UN as their partner. They invested efforts worth countless hours to create a serious impact on kids in a remote slum. After gaining inspiration and sincerely working towards it, this team became the youngest organization to partner with the UN.
Enhancing Research with Project uP
Research has been one of the strongest points of the organization from the beginning. It is through this tool of research that they have made a considerable change in the field. When they could not be present in the field physically, they figured the power of research. This means the team increased and enhanced their research. As a result, they discovered that a large number of students in India are not acquainted with the research ecosystem. These students want to pursue research but there is no medium to learn the same.
Policy Research Internship
Project uP initiated the first step towards changing this. Their Policy Research Internship provided undergraduate students with the opportunity to learn and work on public policy-based research projects. Along with this, it also provided them with challenging opportunities to consult Government Organisations. The internship allowed 50 young students to turn to scholars. It opened the realm of academia for them. However, this internship was just the start of the uP to generate a substantive impact.
The organization then provided recommendations to relevant organs of the Government. National Action Plan was one of them. Hence, this leads their research team to contribute towards Policy Consultation. Additionally, the team felt the urge to create a space for students to explore their research interests. With this objective, strategic planning, and the vision to materialize change, they worked hard to get UNESCO onboard for this project. Through the partnership, the plan was to curate a holistic curriculum. Along with this, a growth-oriented approach was also important. The expected results at the end of the boot camp series are more than 100 published authors. It also includes over 15 successful policy recommendations and impacting over 75,000. The Policy Research Bootcamp in partnership with UNESCO will enable them to initiate change with their final model.
