Clearing cutoff at Delhi University was a huge relief for students but then the website crashed on day one of admissions, playing a spoilsport in DU’s maiden effort at making the entire admission process online.
Delhi University authorities said they are aware of the issue and are looking into the problem. Students this year have to generate an admission slip of the college they are going to take admission into. Students can submit documents in the respective college only after showing this admission slip to college authorities.
However, the website crashed in the morning itself, leaving aspirants helpless. They rushed to colleges to seek alternative options which didn’t help anyone as colleges denied admission without the admission slip.
“The website isn’t working and I went to the college thinking that they will allow me to take admission since I am eligible as per the cut-off but I was told that the slip is mandatory,” said Nasreen Ghai, a B.Com (hons) aspirant at SRCC college.
When contacted, Kirti Ranjan, Officer on Special Duty, Admissions, said, “The technical team has been monitoring the server and few glitches were reported. We are looking into it”.
Few colleges helped applicants and allowed access to their computer laboratories but the website continued to trouble many.
The students have three days to take admission under the first list following which the next cut-off list will be released.
