images-2 Actor Tannishtha Chatterjee , who made an appearance on the famous roast show Comedy Nights Bachao for promotions of her upcoming film Parched¬†along with director of the film Leena Yadav and co-star Radhika Apte got roasted on her skin color and is really furious about it. Tannishtha who is darker in complexion was called Kali Kalooti .¬†It began with, ‚ÄòAap ko jamun bahut pasand hoga zaroor…?‚Äô‚Äú

Tannishtha said when she was told she would be the subject of a roast, the actress thought it would be on the lines of US TV shows like Saturday Night Live and was actually looking forward to it.unnamed

“Then this show began. And this was an entirely novel understanding of roast that equates itself with bullying. To my utmost horror, I soon realised that the only quality they found worth roasting about in me was my skin tone”, she wrote.

The 35-year-old said she initially tried to go along with the show but could not tolerate the “offensive” jokes after a point.

‚ÄúI could not believe I was sitting in a nationally televised comedy show in 2016 in Mumbai amid such regressive( I can‚Äôt call it humour), and blatantly racist content. Though I was feeling suffocated, I decided to give it another chance, and sat through another equally offensive segment.”images

After Tannishtha Chatterjee slammed the television show Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza for their racist jokes, the actressreceived an apology from the Colors channel which airs the show.

But actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek, who hosts the comedy show, doesn’t seem apologetic at all.images-1

If you want to put an allegation, you can pick anything and make a big issue of it,” he says. “She wanted to put some allegation on us and she chose racism. If you are going to a restaurant, you should know what cuisine you are going to get.

“When Tannishtha came on the show, she told me that she has never watched my show or AIB‚Äôs Roast. She didn‚Äôt know what to expect, as she had come on the show without knowing the format. I think it was unexpected for her and she couldn’t take the roast,” he adds.

Meanwhile, it makes us wonder why racism still exists . There is a difference between having fun , cracking jokes and taking support of racism and sexism to increase the TRP of shows. There should be a clear distinction between both the concepts since one of them is of national concern .
