Heraclitus of Ephesus, in his undying wisdom, wrote a lot of interesting things. One interesting thing he wrote is that “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” Similarly, though the same two feet will walk into the conference hall at the beginning of the event and out at the end, they will carry two different people.
Something exciting is brewing in the distant land of Dadri, in Shiv Nadar University. It’s that time of the year again when the campus is abuzz with activity and anticipation Рwhen the X’s begin to dominate the campus landscape. Obviously, Shiv Nadar University’s TEDx Club is active again.
True to their promise, Shiv Nadar University’s TEDx Club is back with the second edition of its flagship conference РTEDxShivNadarUniversity.
Born in 1984 out of Richard Wurman’s observance of the convergence among three fields-technology, entertainment and design, TED has seen a profusion of milestones and achievements in the 33 years of its mission to spread ideas. Playing its own small role in this global movement is TEDxShivNadarUniversity.
TEDxShivNadarUniversity is an all-volunteer and not-for-profit event. The TED conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including this, are self-organized. TEDxShivNadarUniversity offers interactive, immersive experiences for all participants, from speakers to attendees. TEDxShivNadarUniversity is a full-day event being curated by the members of TEDx Club, Shiv Nadar University. The goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea-focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke conversations that matter.
Last year, TEDxShivNadarUniversity 2016 witnessed meaningful, idea-focused conversations take flight. From a journalist to an advocate, from a chef to an economist, and from a photographer to an entrepreneur, it was an outstanding amalgamation of ideas and experiences.
This year’s roster is no less stellar than that of last year. The pre-event hype is multiplying as the speakers are being revealed one-by-one, each coming from a disparate field with a unique idea.
With schizophrenics, playwrights, musicians and IT top-guns confirmed in the speaker roster,the excitement for the conference couldn’t be any higher.
The organizing team asks you for just this- come equipped with inquisitiveness to tap into the vast reserves of knowledge that the speakers bring to the TEDx platform; come with an open mind and an open heart, to engage with myriad perspectives and step into stories that make you challenge preset biases. This 12th day of November, 2017 promises you a lot edification and inspiration to gain from several brilliant minds – some alien, some friendly.
With the buzz around the event accumulating, and with just over a couple of weeks to go, it’s full throttle ahead. With a lineup full of pioneers, a melodious potpourri of homegrown music, good food, and special guests from another rock, this second Sunday of November, 2017 is worth every rupee invested in it.
