It is the admission season yet again in the University of Delhi with people from all over the nation looking to find their way into the one of the most sought-after universities of the country. In a statement, officials declared that the number of courses for which admission tests will be held have been increased from nine to thirteen this year. The four courses for which entrance exams will be held now are Bachelor in Physiotherapy, Bachelor in Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics, and Masters of Physiotherapy.
From the academic year 2021-22 onwards, admissions to Bachelor in Physiotherapy, Bachelor in Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Prosthetics & Orthotics, and Masters of Physiotherapy will be done through Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET). “This is an effort in line with the National Education Policy motive of one university one examination,” said Rajiv Gupta, who is the chairperson of admissions for the varsity.
The Delhi University Entrance Exam is the official entrance examination that is held every year for some courses that students undertake to gain admissions. While there were talks of making a shift towards admission tests for all the courses, officials have said that this step wouldn’t be possible for the session set to begin this year. However, a hope for such a change remains in place for the session to come.
For DUET-2021, all the exams for post graduate courses, select under graduate courses and other programmes ,like M.Phil. and Ph.D. will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). NTA’s computer-based mode will be used to smoothly conduct all the admission tests. The dates for these exams haven’t been announced yet and will be released soon.
For the convenience of students, the test centers will also be increased this year.
“This year, University of Delhi is planning to increase the number of test centers for DUET. This was one of the prominent demands of candidates,” Rajiv Gupta, chief official for all admission related decisions.
In another statement released later in the day, officials said that “Non-NET candidates who are desirous of seeking admissions to Ph.D. and MPhil programmes will have to appear for DUET-2021.”
The admission process continues to remain a source of trepidation for students all over the nation desirous of joining it for the top class course it offers alongside its exposure. As days pass, things become more clear and the start of the process comes closer. The hope is that the university will sort out all the concerns for the students to begin their college life in a smooth-sailing process.
