Several candidates who took an examination held by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in February continued to protest in New Delhi for the third day against the alleged leak of a question paper & mass cheating. The protesting students demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) look into the matter. They met officials of the selection panel on 28th February to submit evidence of their claims.
The students protested outside the SSC office at CGO Complex in New Delhi today. They started their agitation on 27 February, only a few days after the SSC said it would conduct a re-test for candidates who took the Combined Graduate-Level Examination on February 21 due to “technical reasons”.The SSC declared this on February 24 and scheduled the re-examination on March 9.
In a major turn of events,SSC has alleged that the protests of students are a product of active instigation and sponsorship by two coaching institutes for their own interests.
Meanwhile, the Commission had agreed to meet the representatives of the agitating group who met the commission with printouts of some questions, the representatives have reportedly been asked to come with concrete evidence in support of their allegations by 10:30 am on March 3.According to a report, “On receipt of such evidences the Commission would, in consultation with DoP&T, refer the matter to be inquired into by an independent investigating agency”.
What might be interesting to note is the fact that despite understanding the gravity of the allegations, the authorities have asked the students themselves to produce evidence, while they continue to play their blame game.As Congress went ahead to call this another Vyapam, the students came to the end of day three of their protests.
