2017 has been a great a year for Tv show enthusiasts with so many great shows being released throughout the year. But the one genre that stand out all year long with a variety of great content and some epic performances was THRILLER !

Thriller TV shows are the most difficult to produce because it requires deep storylines and intriguing characters but is also the most promising genre to attract audience. Here is the list of top 10 best thriller TV shows released in 2017 :

(Mild spoilers ahead,You’ve been warned) :p

If this post would’ve been about the first two seasons of sherlock then it would’ve definitely been among the top 5 in this list,However, season 4 of Sherlock was a bit of a setback for the fans of the show.Based on sir Arthur conan Doyle’s stories sherlock season 4 witnesses the return of Sherlock Holmes and Dr.John watson on the screen after a wait of almost 2 years.Tho ugh Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are exceptional as Sherlock and Watson, the storyline and direction lost it’s charm that the previous seasons carries.Still it’s a great show with decent plot twists and amazing performances .

Another great netflix original released this year.Dark is a German supernatural thriller web series. It is basically a family saga with a supernatural twist, set in a German town, where the disappearance of two young children exposes the relationships among four families.Although the plot may feel a bit like that of stranger things as it also revolves around the concept of alternate dimension but there are elements of time travel too which gives a fresh addition to the show. The cast performances are decent and cinematography is also really good.A must watch for thriller enthusiasts.

Ozark is more of a crime drama than a thriller but then again every crime drama has the elements of Thriller in it.The IMDB description of the show says “A financial adviser drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri¬†Ozarks, where he must launder $500 million in five years to appease a drug boss”.And it is exactly what is sounds. The best part about the show is Jason bateman giving an amazing performance having equal proportions of terror, guilt, ambition and intelligence.

7. Mr. ROBOT

MR.Robot knocked it out of the park with the first season.Though Season 2 was not that great Season 3 is helping the show return to its former glory.Having emmy award winning actor Rami Malek as the lead this show is a must watch for the fans of Technology. Rami malek gives the performance of a lifetime as Elliot Alderson, A cybersecurity engineer.

Another great show based on technology and the harm it can cause if mixed with cruel intentions of man ultimately leading to a dystopian future. It centres on dark and satirical themes that examine modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies.Black mirror Season 4 was one of the most awaited shows this year on netflix and has so far received positive reviews from all the major critics.

AMC’s The Walking Dead is the oldest running show in this list and also has the widest fan base. The Walking Dead Season 7 follows the All out War arc from the comics initiating an epic war between Rick’s group and The Saviors led by probably the biggest villain in Walking Dead history Negan.Fans of the show know that this show is no more about zombies,it is all about the people trying to survive in this post apocalyptic world. The best part of the show is the soundtrack and the cast performances as Andrew lincoln and Jeffrey dean Morgan are terrific as rivals Rick and Negan.

Stranger Things was Netflix’s biggest hit after House of Cards and it deserves all the praise it got.For TV shows it is quite hard to outperform the first season but Stranger Thing hings 2 does just that. It progresses the story in a way that it didn’t felt dragged , the story is more interesting, the characters are more compelling everything is better in Stranger Things 2 than it was in Stranger Things 1.The show does a decent job of introducing new characters to add a new flavor and is wonderful at paying homage to the era of 70’s.

Based on William peter Blatty 1971 novel of the same name the Exorcist is the story of two priests who join forces to fight the case of a demonic possession in a family on a remote island. The exorcist is a completely different kind of horror tv show as it has elements of thriller more in it than that of horror. There are hardly any jumpscares in the show yet it manages to scare the wit out of you.The storyline is very realistic that is hard to find in horror shows and has incredible cast performances. The first season was based on the very famous Regan macneil possession and was equally loved by critics and audiences.A great show with brilliant direction and storyline.

What more reason you need to watch this show other than the fact that it is produced by the midas of thriller David Fincher himself.Mind hunter is as thrilling and suspenseful as it can get.In the late 1970s two FBI agents expand criminal science by delving into the psychology of murder and getting uneasily close to all-too-real monsters. The plot is very intriguing and hooks you up immediately. It has all the elements of a great thriller show and more with amazing camerawork and direction. (You can’t escape binge watching this one)

Probably the most underrated show in this list and yet the most amazing one.Bates motel is Epic to say the least. It is a prequel to the classic Alfred Hitchcock movie PSYCHO (1960)¬†and follows the story of how Norman Bates became his mother Norma Bates after a series of tragic events. It deals with the phenomenon of Dissociative Identity Disorder. The show is chilling and horrific with some really graphic scenes and the leads Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga definitely deserve an Emmy for their absolutely terrific portrayal of Norman and Norma Bates.Although Season 5 was not as good as the previous seasons but overall this is a must watch. You are missing out on something epic if you haven’t seen this one yet.

Note : Most of these shows are available on Netflix,Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar.
